Payments on Account of Profit Costs Increase

The Legal Aid Agency (LAA) has recently announced an increase to the amount paid on Payments on Account (POA) for profit costs.

As of 4th August 2020, the LAA are now paying 80% of costs on account an increase of 5% instead of the usual 75%.  This is a temporary change to last until the end of January 2021.

Claims made on CCMS now show as an 80% POA as the receivable amount.

As a first, the LAA is also allowing firms to claim 100% of the Family Advocacy Scheme (FAS) costs.  These costs will be recouped upon a final bill submission and offset against the final bill.  A new provider quick guide has been released which details how to claim these costs.

As per the earlier increase to the number of times a POA can be claimed within a rolling yearFAS costs can be claimed up to four times in a rolling year as well or claimed as one lump sum.

We are able to aid in submitting POAs or we also offer CCMS training on how to claim POAs. For further details please do not hesitate to contact us.
